Recess Moroccan Vintage Caftan in Gold Metallic Brocade, Maxi Gown Dress Moroccan Caftan in Gold Bronze Metallic Brocade, Maxi Gown Dress Kaftan. This caftan is an amazing example of the quality of textiles coming out of Morocco in the 1960s (though it may even be slightly older then that). It would have been hand made and is a beautiful combination of a fine silk brocade and gold thread. The design is a classic silhouette that pairs the finely woven brocade with hand done embroidery work and gold metal thread woven through the design. The flower design that runs through the fabric has beautiful pops of metallic reds, blues and a deep fuchsia. The edges are all finished with a heavy, flat gold braiding and the front is decorated with little petal feeling details in the same gold braiding. The cut is loose and easy, it just slips over the head and has a notched neckline for a bit of skin to peek through. Each sleeve is cut very wide. I love the little gold tassels that sit at the top of each notch at the sides. It is exceptional and very beautiful. It has that same vibe as the more open version Talitha Getty wore in the famous photos of her with her husband Tom Getty while in Marrakesh in January of 1970. Excellent condition Fully lined in a light off white cotton and slips over the head to wear. Appears entirely hand made. The cut will allow it to fit a range of sizes.
